Chain of Custody and Lot Traceability
The absolute necessity of maintaining strict lot traceability from synthesis through final analytical distribution.
Educational reference only. Not a substitute for a validated laboratory method or lot-specific testing.
Synthesis Auditing
Every batch of synthesized material must be assigned a permanent, unique lot identifier. This identifier tracks the material through cleavage, purification, lyophilization, and final bottling.
Without strict lot traceability, researchers cannot reproduce experimental conditions or trace anomalous data back to potential reagent degradation.
Analytical Correlation
The lot identifier on the physical vial must perfectly correlate with the external COA. If a supplier utilizes rolling batch numbers or generic COAs for multiple synthesis runs, the data is invalid.
Rigorous chain of custody ensures that the exact material tested by the ISO-certified laboratory is the exact material received by the researcher.
